Maker’s Hand Festival of Fine Craft continues all weekend

A colourful, bustling marketplace of internationally renowned artisans continues this weekend at the community centre in Picton. The Maker’s Hand show and sale serves those looking for unique holiday gifts and original art created by local Canadian artists who have gathered in an inspiring and creative show.
Nine years ago, some of Eastern Ontario’s finest artisans got together to create a new, regional one-of-a-kind show of international calibre. Buyers and browsers flocked to that first show, and have been coming back each year to buy stunning, original gifts direct from the artists who made them. The 2012 The Maker’s Hand Show and Sale features 40 eclectic artisans and 1,001 beautiful things.
This year’s show features creations such as funky hand-made hats, fine jewellery, incredible beadwork, exotic pottery, blown and sculpted glass, intricate wearable art and mind-blowing metal works. The artisans work in such media as clay and glass, photography, wood, metal, fibre art, and so much more.
One of the artists new to the show this year is Diane Woodward, a multi-disciplined artist from Madoc.
“When I was at The Maker’s Hand Show last year, not only did I want what I saw, I wanted to be one of these artists.”
Diane has been a painter for 35 years and a closet crafter for 50 years. She says “This is the first time I’ve come out as a crafter but I love this show!”
Browse The Maker’s Hand, meet our artists and buy a truly original gift from those who dream, design and make their art by hand.
