Traffic may be delayed while signs go up at LCBO

Traffic may be disrupted while new signs are being installed on the exterior of the new LCBO building, at the corners of Main and Lake streets in Picton.

A boom truck will be required during installation and traffic will be shifted around the site. Installation begins Tuesday, March 15 and is expected to continue Thursday, March 17, Monday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 22, from 7am – 7pm each day.

With all the dairy cows in the county, especially in earlier times, one would expect the beverage of choice might have been milk. But I suppose rum running was a lot more exciting than milking cows.

  2. Susan says:

It’s in our blood (pun intended)! During prohibition the County was famous for bootlegging to Oswego, New York. The County has always been into booze in a big way. That’s why the wineries are a natural hit.

    Booze R Us.

Look’s good. It will be the most popular store in town. And it’s way smaller than the apartment building kiddy corner. They might have gone a little over board on the huge sign but the tourists won’t miss it or the senior ladies that like their wine! And it adds to the tax base and a water user to boot. The big Royal will be another place for people to get their syrup! I guess we specialize in what we do best. Lol

  5. Marnie says:

Kind if sad that the biggest building in town is the LCBO. Did it really have to be THAT large?

  6. Susan says:

Parking and entry/exit should be much improved over the prior situation. There is even an entry off of Main St.

  7. Sandar says:

I never said anything about the building. The location is what is going to need a boom truck . . . .. ! Would you not agree? Wait and see.

A new bigger store goes without saying.

  8. Susan says:

I take it you do not like the new building that replaced the old.

  9. Sandar says:

    ” . . . A boom truck will be required during . . . ”

rush hours during summer to lift cars and pedestrians out of their own way when summer chaos comes to buy booze from the “in and out store”. What makes sense is a Tim Horton’s drive through window and that would not be ridiculous.

One good thing about this Picton location is that it will drive many people with what’s left of their sanity to Wellington, Rossmore and Consecon to buy their booze. It looks like that was the plan in the first place.
