Because it rarely rains on the Milford Fair, sunshine and seasonably warm weather welcomed a large crowd for the 76th annual gathering to celebrate community and rural roots, food and fun.
The old-fashioned fair opening follows a parade to the event – unique in that it has as many people or more in the parade, than watching it.
Following entry into the Milford fairgrounds, visitors were eager to enter the barn to see the fruit, vegetable and displays of local growers’ items, enjoy bingo and food trucks around the perimeter or join in chatty line ups all day waiting for poutine, 4-H milkshakes and other delightful treats.
During traditional opening ceremonies and a performance by the parade band, Joyce Minaker announced three winners of this year’s Murray Clapp Memorial Citizenship Awards: Don Farrington, Cath Collins and Jacob Found.
Several children’s activities were popular again this year and folks circled the vendor tents to explore County businesses and offerings.
The Milford Fair has run continuously since 1946, when it welcomed home returning soldiers from the Second World War. Aside from being closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, many have come to love and expect the grassroots activities the fair has to offer.

The 8 Wing Pipes and Drums from 8 Wing/CFB Trenton performed under the direction of Pipe Major Sgt A.W. Buchanan.
