Water trunk construction to impact Belleville Street traffic Friday

The installation of a water trunk main connection in Wellington will impact traffic on Belleville Street will now take place Friday, Sept. 26, due to expected rainfall Thursday. In addition, the bulk water filling station at the Wellington and District Community Centre will be temporarily out of service that day.
Belleville Street across from the water tower will be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will control the flow of traffic through the construction area. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the construction area and travel alternate routes, if possible. Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is expected to be completed the same day.
Heavy equipment may limit visibility in the area and noise levels will be elevated for the duration of the work.
Customers requiring bulk water filling service during this time are asked to use the Picton (15 MacSteven Drive) or Carrying Place (21651 Loyalist Parkway) bulk loading stations.
This work is required as part of the Wellington trunk watermain and sanitary sewer construction project. The municipality expects the majority of the project to be completed by the end of 2025 with some trail restoration happening in the spring of 2026.
