Road closures and traffic disruptions will occur throughout the County on Sunday, Oct. 4 during the 23rd annual County Marathon.
The closures are rolling, meaning roads will reopen when necessary. In addition, major intersections will be managed to keep traffic moving and allow vehicles through at regular intervals. The road closures will be coordinated by a specialized road race company and the Ontario Provincial Police.

The following roads are to be closed at these times:
County Road 33 (Wellington to Bloomfield): 7:30 am – 9 am
County Road 12 (Bloomfield to Sandbanks): 8:00 am – 12 pm
County Road 11 (Sandbanks to Picton): 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
County Road 10 (starting at County Road 11): 9:30 am – 1 pm
County Road 10 (intersection of County Road 1 and County Road 10): 7:30 am – 1 pm
Picton Main Street (Lake Street to Cystal Palace): 7:30 am – 2:30 pm.
In the past two years, the County Marathon expanded to chip-time the 5K Fun Run and re-add the relay race. This year the County Kids 1K run was added. Last year there were 1,600 registered runners, with 74 per cent (1,184) hailing from outside the region. The full marathon is 42.2km; the marathon relay is two person to five person teams. The half marathon is 21.1km.
Both the marathon and half marathon courses are Athletic Canada Certified Courses (ACCC) – Accurate qualifier for world-wide marathons, including the famous North American Boston Marathon.
The marathon begins in Wellington and picks up the half marathon start near Sandbanks Provincial Park, and finishes in Picton the Crystal Palace at the fairgrounds.

The 2025 42.2km marathon winner was Romain Carette, of Toronto, bib 244, with a time of 2:35:39,8 (in the male 30-39 age category). There were 125 runners in the full marathon.
