The Quinte and District Association of Realtors reported 145 sales in all property types for the month of January, 2014 – an increase of 4.3 per cent over last year.
The residential portion of those sales totalled 126, an increase of 16.7 per cent over 2013, however, the average residential price for the month calculated as $207, 135 is down 2.2 per cent from the same period in 2013.
“The total active residential listings are also showing a decline of 6.2 per cent which may indicate many locals have travelled to a warmer climate, hoping to escape the challenging winter weather,” said Michelle Norlock, QDAR president. “A lower inventory of homes for sale could be an excellent opportunity to list your house on the MLS (multiple listing system),” she said.
