The board of directors of the Prince Edward County new Affordable Housing Corporation set its foundation at its inaugural meeting.
The meeting, Feb. 25, focused on laying the foundations for the corporation’s work, including approving bylaws and electing the following officers – Treat Hull as president, Elis K. Ziegler as secretary and Kevin Kelly, CFA as treasurer.
“The board will meet monthly, with the March meeting focused on educating board members on the range of affordable housing types and funding options available, as well as adopting clear conflict of interest rules,” said Hull.
“This is a very strong board with in-depth experience in areas including finance, planning, social services, engineering and governance. Board members are all eager to get a clear business plan together so we have a solid footing to get shovels in the ground as soon as possible.”
The Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation was approved by municipal council in 2018 as an arms-length, not-for-profit corporation whose mandate is to increase the supply of affordable housing in the County.
County council appointed nine citizen members and two councillors to serve as directors for the Prince Edward County Affordable Housing Corporation at the end of January 2019.
The inaugural board of directors also includes Diana Cooper, Peter Landry, Debbie MacDonald Moynes, Blair Martin, Greg Sorbara, Shirley Van Steen and councillors Stewart Bailey and Ernie Margetson.
