‘Art Gecko’ wins first SandFest trophy

After a three year absence, the Friends of Sandbanks sponsored its popular sand-sculpting event at the mouth of the Outlet River, Wednesday.
Guest sculptor Rod Watson, in addition to making his own creation, gave participants of 20 participating groups some technical advice and sculpting hints.
The first SandFest trophy (The Sandy!) was offered as a prize for the best sculpture – won this year by the team creating ‘Art Gecko’.
A second prize of sand/snow sculpting tools from CreateACastle was awarded to the ‘Great Pyramid’ team.
All profits from the fund-raiser are going toward the rehabilitation of the Dunes Trail at West Lake.
