Sunday last chance to see Art in the County

Photographer Graham Davies earned an Honourable Mention award for “Looking at Houses” film photography handprinted silver print.

Art in the County’s annual exhibition of excellence is located in a new venue for its 19th year of showcasing the best of the best for Prince Edward County’s premier art show.

Art in the County displays the highest quality of work from more than 80 local artists and artisans – carefully chosen by three distinguished and experienced art experts who are professionally qualified jurors. Art in the County’s 19th annual premier art show is open daily until July 15 above Books & Company, downtown Picton. Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“It’s a wonderful new venue with great lighting,” said Cee Holter, a show volunteer. “The other great thing is that you can really stand back and have a look at all the wonderful pieces.”

Jurors Anthony J. Batten, Andrew Benyei and Zora Buchanan reviewed hundreds of entries to determine the content of the show, the five Jurors’ Choice Awards and five Honourable Mentions.

The People’s Choice Award, determined by ballots completed by visitors to the art show, is  awarded at the end of Art in the County.

Cee Holter examines Caroline Shuttle’s vibrant Splash Series 3 work of glass. It is a Jurors’ Award winner this year.
