ATV, police vehicle collide

Two Picton residents are facing charges following a collision early Sunday morning between an all-terrain vehicle and a police vehicle, on Main St, Picton.

Two officers were injured as a result of the collision, though the extent of injuries is unknown.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old Picton man has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100 mL of blood, driving a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol. He was also charged with driving a motor vehicle with no plates, two counts of driving while under suspension, and passing while the roadway was not clear to oncoming traffic, under the Highway Traffic Act. The ATV was towed and will be held for seven days. His driver’s license has also been suspended for 90 days.

The owner of the ATV, a 22-year-old Picton woman, was charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive under the HTA. .

The ATV driver is scheduled for a provincial court appearance Aug. 16th.
