Avoid the intersection at the top of the town hill today if possible as County staff are working on a watermain service connection at Books and Company downtown Picton, Monday Oct. 18.
Work is expected to be complete by 7pm.
Main Street remains open; however, lane detours may be in place. The sidewalk in front of 289 Picton Main Street, and parking spaces, will be closed for the duration of the installation. Parking spaces in front of 280 Picton Main Street (The Edward Building) may also be impacted due to required traffic control.

I recall that it was predicted this would need to be re-done due to capacity and the inability to meet the growing needs of population. The service isn’t large enough to handle the increase from the new homes and subdivisions. Now it must be replaced. What boggles my mind is that if the county new that a few years ago, why didn’t they do it right the first time and install the correct capacity service, instead of wasting dollars?…if indeed this is the reason.
Curious why this work wasn’t done when Main St and sidewalks were just done a short time ago. Tearing up the new again.
Amazing, that there is already water maim problems ( leak ), on a the rebuilt section of Main Street that had all new water and sewer pipe, hookups and reconstructed, paved roadway. Sure seems it should of lasted longer…….
