CHEERS! to Fran Renoy, (above left), winner of the inaugural Wellings Lifelong Achievement Award at the Prince Edward County Volunteer Awards last month, who presented her $500 donation-of-choice prize to Linda Downey, of the Wellington and District Storehouse Foodbank.
“I found it a difficult decision to make with respect to which charity or non profit organization that I would donate the $500 to,” said Renoy. “I chose the Wellington and District Storehouse Foodbank as I have been so impressed with Linda Downey and all her amazing volunteers and their many and varied efforts to help those in need.”
The Storehouse Foodbank serves 372 individuals twice a month with basic necessities. Clients include seniors dealing with isolation, or living on a fixed income.
Downey notes the need has increased over the years of operation and always increases over holidays. The Storehouse is run entirely by volunteers with the benefit of community donations.
