Barn Quilts will create colourful County trail

Quilt panels being installed on various County buildings – mostly barns – will form a colourful County Barn Quilt Trail. The rural folk art is popular west, says organizer Pat Dubyk, and as of the weekend, has come to Prince Edward County.
Traditional quilt designs, and some creative styles, are being painted on panels by students at Prince Edward Collegiate Insitute, CML Snider and Pinecrest.
Following the first installation at Hagerman Farms near the round-a-bout, 16 barn quilts were hung from Picton to Wellington.
As orders come in, Dubyk says the trail is being mapped. For now, drivers can follow a trail from Hagermans to Cty Rd. 32 (Mallory Road), onto Stanley Street in Bloomfield, to Hwy 33.
People with barns or suitable buildings along that corridor are invited to contact Dubyk at 613 813 -1972.
Three generations of the Hagerman pose with the first pair of barn quilts installed at their farm market just west of the round-a-bout.
