Brawl over parking in Wellington results in charges

Prince Edward County OPP were called to respond to a brawl over parking Saturday Aug. 22 just noon in Wellington.
Officers arrived at the Main Street location to see a physical altercation.
“A vehicle was found to be improperly parked and the occupants were asked to park properly,” said Const. Aaron Miller. “As a result, the altercation ensued and a female was spit on by one of the vehicle occupants. The occupant then continued assaulting the female.”
As a result, a 26-year-old from Toronto was arrested and charged with assault.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Nov. 4.
Shortly thereafter at approximately at 1 p.m. OPP received a traffic complaint from Sunset Lagoon Drive.
Officers located the vehicle and spoke to the driver. As a result, the driver was arrested and taken to detachment for testing and a 59-year-old Prince Edward County man was arrested and charged with Operation While Impaired – 320.14(1)(a)
Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) – 320.14(1)(b)
The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on Sept. 16. The driver was also given a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
