AUG. 21: All open air fires permitted. The partial burn ban has been lifted after all criteria have been met for open air burning.
AUG. 18: A partial burn ban will come into effect as of 12 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18 due to the forecast of high winds.
Under a partial burn ban, burning is restricted to a container with a screened top or a small campfire. Propane fueled appliances such as barbecues and fire tables are exempted.
AUG. 13: All open air fires permitted. The burn ban has been lifted after all criteria have been met for open air burning.
AUG. 9: UPDATE A partial burn ban is now in effect as winds on August 9 are forecasted to exceed of 25 km/h with gusts greater than 35 km/h.
- Under a partial burn ban, burning is restricted to a container with a screened top or a small campfire. Propane fueled appliances such as barbecues and fire tables are exempted from the open-air burning bylaw.
- Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue reminds residents that a burn permit is required for all open air burning.
- The fire chief evaluates weather and ground conditions to determine the necessity of a burn ban. When conditions improve, the ban will be updated.
AUG. 7: Due to high winds forecasted to exceed 30 km/h, a total burn ban will go into effect at 12 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 throughout the County of Prince Edward.
A burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including brushfire, campfires, and burn barrels.
The Fire Chief evaluates weather and ground conditions to determine the necessity of a burn ban. When conditions improve, the ban will be updated.
