Canadian champions join local skaters for 5th annual show

Canadian champions will join more than 140 local skaters to present ‘Celebrate 2011…when grunge meets glam’ a combined skating extravaganza produced by the Prince Edward County and Quinte skating clubs Saturday, May 7 with two shows – a 2 p.m. matinee and an evening show at 7p.m. at the new Essroc Arena in Wellington.

This 5th annual show, featuring professional lighting, stunning rented costumes, elite guest skaters and tons of practice time provides a ‘big city production’ right here at home, says County skate club president Susan Allison.

The local skaters will be sharing the ice with 2011 Canadian Pairs Champions – Dylan Moscovitch and Kirsten Moore-Towers; 2011 Canadian Dance Champions – Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier; 2011 Canadian Sr. Synchronized Skating Champions – Nexxice and the County’s own Peter O’Brien, the 2011 Junior Men’s Bronze Medalist.

Celebrate 2011 will also feature the up-and-coming talents of young local singers Rikki Montgomery, Emily Workman, Brooke Bruce and Chantel Johnston.

During the show, local artist Christopher Bennett will be painting live on large canvases – an interesting twist to the usual. His work will be available for sale after each show.
