Carver auctions spoons for County’s new hospital

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation loves it when donors stir things up in a good way.

To help beat the lockdown blues, Ken deBoer hand carved wooden spoons over the month of January and auctioned them off on his Instagram page (@theshedhandmade).

His labour of love raised $1,350 and he donated the proceeds to the PECMH Foundation. Each day, Ken featured different handmade spoons and offered them up for auction.

“Ken’s gift will assist with the purchase of priority medical equipment and will help get us closer to building a new hospital in Prince Edward County,” said Briar Boyce, senior development officer.

“Thank you, Ken and Jocelyn deBoer for keeping our County hospital top of mind during these difficult times. Your heart for our hospital is inspiring. And heartfelt thanks are extended to everyone who participated in the auction, whether you bid, won or shared the auction on your page. We are so grateful for your support.”
