Celebrating the value of volunteering

Gail Fox, Sterling Johnston and Rosemary Moore were among the many volunteers who sold daffodil pins for the Canadian Cancer Society at various locations throughout the County.

Organizers for the 9th annual Relay for Life thank the many volunteers who sold Daffodil pins for the Canadian Cancer Society at various locations around the County.

This year’s National Volunteer Week (April 15-21) theme is “Celebrate the Value of Volunteering”.

“It’s unfortunate that approximately one in every two Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer, but good to know that we have so many volunteers in our community who dedicate their time and effort into finding a cure,” said Lori McGinnis, long-time volunteer with the PEC Relay for Life committee.

Volunteers are invited to attend this year’s Relay for Life “Carnival for a Cure” information day April 21 at The Edward Building, 280 Main St., Picton.

Teams, survivors, individuals, volunteers and all those curious about how they can help, are invited to attend from 10 a.m. to noon.
