Reaching for Rainbows, now in its sixth year, recently honoured its 2017 graduates, Cia, Harley, Katelyn, Kyleigh, Meghan and Rayne. The girls took part in a graduation ceremony followed by a barbecue with their families and their Rainbows friends. The graduates are pictured here with Janet Graham, Jane Wollenberg and Jennifer Reed, who head up the program at St. Andrew’s Church.
The Reaching for Rainbows program, is for up to 30 girls, ages six to nine, who will benefit from a boost of self-confidence, a smidgeon of good decision-making and a pinch of problem solving. They are recommended to the program by Queen Elizabeth Public School, St. Gregory’s Catholic School and other community groups.
CHEERS! to the Stark Foundation which generously provided funding this year for Reaching for Rainbows to host a holiday dinner and and year-end barbecue for the girls and their families, and to provide healthy snacks all year long.
“Without this kind of strong community support, Reaching for Rainbows and its huge success in empowering young girls would not exist,” said Jane Thompson.
