This week’s above seasonal temperatures give no sign of winter, but Christmas will come, and there are angels in the County preparing to make it a merry one for local families.

The Angel Tree office is opening for another season Thursday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Kinsmen Hall, 56 King St., Picton. Chief Angel Susan Rose, program coordinator for more than 30 years, along with her team, will be accepting registrations from families who could use a hand up this year.

The campaign general supports as many as 300 children and their families each year, thanks to the help of many volunteers, the Kinsmen Club, and many supporters.

Individuals, businesses or teams are invited to choose an angel from the tree and purchase Christmas gifts, or make donations of new toys, new clothing, winter boots or money.

The hours for the Angel Tree office will vary due to COVID-19 protocols, so calling ahead is recommended. The Angel Tree office phone number is 613-921-KIDS (5437).

The annual campaign is partnered with The Children’s Foundation which has been serving children and youth in Hastings County since 1991 and in 2015 expanded to include Northumberland and Prince Edward counties.  The Children’s Foundation is an autonomous organization governed by its own board of directors and is the charitable arm of Highland Shores Children’s Aid (HSCA).
