Circle of light vigil for peace in the Ukraine

St. Andrew’s Church in Picton has created a circle of light with candles for a prayer vigil for peace in the Ukraine being held Monday, Feb. 28 from noon to 6 p.m.
Participants are invited to light a candle and sit in meditation, and also to write messages of support in a scrapbook that will be forwarded to the Ukrainian Embassy.
Masks are required. Candles are provided, contributions of candles are welcome. Enter through the front door of the church, 31 King St., Picton.

Sunday, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry stated 352 Ukrainian civilians have been killed during Russia’s invations, including 14 children. It notes an additional 1,684 people, including 116 children have been wounded. The statement did not give information on casualties among Ukraine’s armed forces.
The United Nations Security Council is to meet Monday in an emergency session.
