From Long Point to Ameliasburgh and Green Point to Consecon, enthusiastic workers of all ages were digging garbage out of ditches during Prince Edward County’s annual Trash Bash event.
Organizer Sandy Latchford said she’s pleased with Saturday’s event.
“We had several teams and individuals working throughout the County. It was great to see such community spirit. Everything went smoothly at the landfill sites and at the Crystal Palace – even the rain held off. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work. I especially want to thank Linda Ryan, Waste Management Supervisor for the municipality for her support and cooperation. We will be back next year – bigger, better and held on a date closer to Earth Day.”
A free television and electronics drop off event will be held Sunday, May 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Picton Home Hardware store on the Loyalist Parkway. Televisions, computers and peripherals, monitors and printers welcomed.
Prince Edward County residents are cleaning up today. Participants in the annual Trash Bash were spotted along sides of roads and in ditches filling up garbage bags. Vehicles were lined up along Lake Street waiting their turn to drop off household hazardous waste at the Public Works yard. By noon, more than 160 vehicles had gone through the free drop off event. Both events run until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14.
