Christmas will be made brighter for more than 250 children and their families this year as the community steps ups to assist the Prince Edward County Christmas Angel Campaign.
Susan Rose, who has been chief angel for more than 30 years, says the headquarters at the Kin Hall, Benson Park building on King St., in Picton is bustling as volunteer elves work frantically to gather and sort donations and gifts.
In the spirit of the season, supporters may choose an angel from the tree and purchase Christmas gifts, or make donations of new toys, new clothing or winter boots.
Donations of food are also welcome as the campaign keeps an eye on children’s food favourites, and as well assists with the purchase of turkeys and all the trimmings.
As in past years, Rose notes the Angel Campaign gives a hand up to help out families in need. The campaign is parnered with The Children’s Foundation. Donations of gifts of cash are appreciated in person, or online at the Foundation’s website
This year, there are also a few snow suits and boots available for those who didn’t receive from this year’s OPP drive. For details, contact Susan Rose, at 613-242-9206 or by email at susan.rose@highlandshorescas.com
Among the many donations this week, are multiple angels being looked after by Picton Home Hardware staff and the Busscher family.
Cronkies taxi drivers and owner Wayne Cronk brought in $500 raised at their Christmas party to assist with the County Angel Campaign.
