Concert ‘In Praise of Holier Women’ raises $1,250 for Alternatives

CHEERS! to St. John’s Church for hosting Schola Magdalena whose concert raised $1,250 for Alternatives for Women.
Schola Magdalena, a six-voice professional choral group, shared beautiful voices to a full church Saturday June 18th singing “In Praise of Holier Women” a selection of medieval and modern music, written by women for women’s voices. All proceeds were donated to Alternatives for Women, an organization committed to helping women at risk in the county.
Schola Magdalena is the ensemble-in-residence at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Toronto. The choir’s performances throughout Ontario and Quebec and their recordings have won high praise from audiences.
The concert of exquisite music was put on by the parish of St. John’s in Waupoos and supported by the Anglican Ontario Diocese.
