Consecon pastoral charge facing serious challenges

It seems only fair to inform you that the United Church is facing serious challenges with energy, attendance and finances. At the present moment we have a contract with an interim minister to provide 3/5ths time and help us see alternatives in preparation for calling a new minister who would begin next June. Reverend Phil Hobbs is leading excellent services encouraging our Christian Faith and service to the community. He is helping us think of new ways to bring Christian teaching to our neighbours.

It is important at this time to hear from the general public with ideas for our building use or ways to remain viable in the community. Although Carrying Place United and Consecon United share a minister under the Consecon Pastoral Charge it is difficult to see how one church could survive without the other and amalgamation is probably the last resort for that reason. If we allow these churches to close there will be no public Christian presence between Wellington and Trenton.

At present we offer a women’s group (UCW), a men’s group (AOTS), a mid-week youth group ages 11-14, Sunday youth programs and Bible study as needed. Our church hall is also used by other groups.

As a Christian community of faith we would love to welcome you to our services every Sunday morning at 11am. Please feel free to drop in, visit and share ideas or call the church office at 613-392-2146.
