Contractors begin work at Black River bridge

Contractors will be on site at the Black River bridge starting April 15 as they begin preliminary work involving the rehabilitation of the existing three-span, two-lane bridge.
Traffic disruptions are expected to continue until October 2020.
A lane of traffic will be open at all times, with support from temporary traffic signals while workers are present.
The work is being carried out to remove deteriorating expansion joints, precast concrete beams and abutments. The work includes installation of three new precast beams, replacement of the bridge deck, curbs and barriers, including roadway approaches to the bridge.
The project also includes installation of a steal beam guide rail and hot mix asphalt.
The municipality is allowed to continue critical infrastructure projects as permitted under the Province of Ontario’s essential workplaces provision in response to COVID-19.
