Councillors seek better way to repair County roads

With a view to get a handle on the poor condition of many County roads, councillors John Hirsch and Jamie Forrester are asking council to back them in a request for a staff report by the end of January to examine longer-lasting, more efficient and effective methods for repairs.
Their resolution, to be presented at Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, states the public is generally dissatisfied with the conditions of roads and the County’s actions to repair them using cold patch material on a “throw and go” basis.
They’ve forwarded literature indicating better methods and seek a report to address various crack sealing techniques and machinery, alternatives and best practices in other municipalities, as well as costs.
Committee of the Whole meets at 1 p.m. at Shire Hall.
