Robert McAuley
Council this morning appointed Robert McAuley as the County’s acting chief administrative officer.
The appointment, effective immediately, follows the April 1 dismissal of James Hepburn with reason being kept confidential “with respect to all parties”.
“Robert has a wealth of experience working with staff and departments across the municipality,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson in a press release Friday morning. “We are pleased he has accepted council’s invitation to oversee day-to-day operations of the municipality during this transition period.”
McAuley joined staff in 2009 and served nearly 10 years overseeing the County’s Engineering, Development and Works Department before becoming the Executive Director of Infrastructure, Capital and Development Initiatives last year.
Council will undertake in the coming weeks an extensive search for a permanent CAO.
“We will be looking internally and externally to find the best person to provide organizational leadership for the municipality,” said Ferguson says. “In the meantime, the municipality will continue to move forward and strive to deliver the high level of service our residents and businesses expect from us.”
