Representing the sole Canadian team, the County’s Ian Crerar drove his way to the podium in the World Rally Championship event in Corsica, France.
Crerar, of ClearWater Design Racing, and co-driver Pat Levesque, from Quebec, placed third in their class at the Tour de Corse on Oct. 2.
Racing a Peugeot 208 R2, the pair completed the 10 stages of the gruelling three-day event and finished third in the R2 class.
This was the pair’s first race together, and their first in a WRC event, making the success very sweet indeed.
“This was a momentous achievement for us,” Crerar said . “Corsica is a tough ralIy – one of the classics – and I could not be happier.”
A total of 77 teams entered the event. Just 51 teams completed.
Crerar, the Canadian Touring Car Championship 2015 Grand Touring Champion, decided to take his experience overseas. His wife and business partner Michelle Laframboise, will also be racing this month – at the Rebelle Rally, a women-only off-road navigational challenge taking place in the deserts of California and Nevada.
