Instant Rivalry’s Caleb and Megan Hutton won The Next Country Music Star Talent Competition over an eight week period in Bethany.
The Prince Edward County siblings will now be joining the 2015 Havelock Country Jamboree line up in August which includes country artists such as Big and Rich, Clint Black, Tanya Tucker and Brett Kissel.
The competition’s semi finals involved nine acts including: Brooke & Ben, Gloria Digby, Jamie Stever, Instant Rivalry, Henry Norwood, Augusta Campoli, Kaitlin Kozell, The James Barker Band & Kansas Stone.
“The competition was tough, talented, kind and every single person on the stage deserved to be there,” said Megan. “We are very excited. It’s a great way to send us to Nashville.”
The Next Country Music Star Competition was judged by record label executives, legendary Canadian country musicians and Havelock Jamboree organizers. Instant Rivalry was praised by the judges for their originality, song writing, and professionalism.
Trevor Lamas, National Promotions Manager of Sony Music Entertainment, said their song ‘Little Old Farmhouse’ was one of the best songs he had heard.
“ I am glad I am front row this evening because the next time I see you perform, I am going to have to pay,” said Bruce Sutton, stage manager of the Jamboree.
Russell deCarle, of Prairie Oyster, expressed adoration for their talent and professionalism telling them: “You kids are the real deal. ”
The two are working on their second album, due to release this summer. They are Nashville bound at the end of the month.
