A County resident recently recognized by the OPP for his bravery will be suggested for municipal honours at Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
Sophiasburgh councillor Bill Roberts is proposing Jay Crowells be publicly honoured with by the municipality’s Civic Recognition Program.
Crowells was presented with the OPP Commissioners’ Citation for Bravery in October during the eastern region reconition evening.
In January, Crowells saved the lives of two men who fell through ice on the Bay of Quinte after a day of ice fishing.
He was able to get both men out of the water, then walked one kilometre of dry land, pulling the two men on a sled.
With approval at the Committee of the Whole meeting, Crowells would be scheduled to be honoured at council’s next meeting Nov. 26.
