County riders geared up to raise more than $51,000 for MS

Hundreds of cyclists rolled into the County Sunday for the eastern portion of the The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada Geared Up to End MS Ride.
The 210 riders raised more than $135,000 in the County’s inaugural fundraiser. Pledges of a minimum of $250 were required to participate. Funds support research into the cause, treatment and cure of MS. Sunday’s 75km tour started and finished at the Prince Edward Community Centre and travelled through Sophiasburgh.
Edward and Amy Shubert raised more than $2,000. Amy was recently diagnosed with MS and had been training for the ride all spring.
County Riders raised more than $51,000 and included on the online fundraising team were: captain Valerie Hussey, Brenda Andress, Bonnie Brown, John Clifford, Julia Creet, Elizabeth Etue, Maureen Fair, Karim Karsan, Petra Kassun-Mutch, Samuel Ludwin, Shelagh Mathers, Brian Patten, Barry Pinsky, Danielle Reddick, Connie Reeve, John Rider, Yves Savoie, Wendy Shaw, Amy Shubert, Edward Shubert, Caroline Shuttle, Darrin Singbeil, Cathy Spoel, Karen Takacs, Susan Tessier, Arlene Wilkinson, Paul Wollaston, and Steve Young.
