County to get rolling on transportation and cycling master plans

Over the next several months, the County is developing master plans for cycling and transportation – and seeks public input.

“Developing these two plans will help us arrive at common vision for the future of transportation within Prince Edward County,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson. “We want to ensure the transportation network of tomorrow enhances the quality of life for all residents and visitors.”

The County has retained WSP Canada Group Limited to develop both the Transportation Master Plan and Cycling Master Plan. Both plans are expected to be completed by December 2020.

The plans are to include recommendations on where and how transportation will be improved and policies to support the improvements and to address long-term community needs. In addition, the plans will outline strategies to help the County determine how to build, fund, and promote transportation County-wide.

A mix of online and in-person consultations will take place throughout the process to build community awareness, establish public support, and gather feedback from residents, visitors, businesses and decision-makers. Visit the County’s online public engagement website, Have Your Say, for more information.

The first in-person public consultation are to take place on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 3-4 pm and 7-8 pm at the Prince Edward Community Centre. Strict physical distancing measures will be in place, and you must register to attend. Visit the event page for more details and to register.
If you are unable to attend, you can watch the meeting via Zoom. Details are posted on the Have Your Say website.
