County’s expanded public transit delayed

The County is postponing the rollout of expanded public transit due to the ridership uncertainty caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The municipality and Quinte Access have partnered to offer enhanced public transit throughout the municipality, which was scheduled to begin on April 1, 2020. However, both parties have agreed to postpone the launch of the fixed route and flex route services until further notice.

Quinte Access will continue to offer specialized transit service for seniors and people with disabilities. Quinte Access will also help any County resident get to and from essential services such as medical appointments. Call Quinte Access at 613.392.9640 to discuss transportation needs.

Deseronto Transit – the current provider of fixed route transit services in Prince Edward County – will cease all transit operations effective Thursday, March 19. Current users of the Deseronto Transit service can call Quinte Access to discuss transportation options.

Quinte Access is taking extra precautions with enhanced cleaning and sanitizing in order to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

In addition, if you are returning from travel outside of Canada, you are advised to self-isolate for 14 days and refrain from using public transit.
