Crafty business ongoing at County libraries

A group of keen knitters and yarn crafters have been meeting at the Milford Branch Library every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for many years now.
More than just an opportunity to work on their latest project, the group also provides an opportunity to catch up with neighbours, learn about the latest happenings in the community, and meet new people. All are welcome – bring your own project and join in the conversation.
Another long-running knitting group meets at the Picton Branch Library. They call themselves “Snuggles”, which is an apt name because this group focuses on creating knitted items for people who need them. They donate their projects to the food banks and to other places. They meet monthly on the first Thursday of the month from 2 to 4 p.m.
If papercrafts are more your interest, the DiscARTed group in Wellington might be of interest. This group reuses books that are unwanted, outdated, or damaged, in creative and inspiring ways. The group has created wreaths, decoupaged and created paper trees. No experience is required and all are welcome. Drop in or call the Wellington Branch at (613) 399-2023 for more information.
Thanks to the Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation Committee, a new group has started at the Bloomfield Branch Library every other Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
They meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month. You can bring any craft project – participants so far have worked on knitting, cross stitch and vinyl crafts. It’s a great use of the new evening hours at the branch.
Each branch now has at least one later night, visit peclibrary.org to see the whole schedule.
If you would like to see a group at your local branch, or at a different time, why not start one? You can use the library space at no charge for community events like these and we will help spread the word. Ask at your local branch.
Drop in technology help is also now available at the Wellington Branch Library. On Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can drop in for answers to any technology questions you might have.
Bring your device or use the library’s computer and get assistance with any tech issues – ebooks, your small business questions and more. You can also make an appointment if you know you would like to come in at a specific time.
Tech help is also available during open hours at the Picton Branch Library – call to make an appointment to ensure someone is available to help. (613) 476-5962.
