Culinary Bounty of the County named a national ‘Signature Experience’

Two Prince Edward County businesses have partnered to create “The Culinary Bounty of the County” and have been designated a “signature experience” in Canada.

The Canadian Tourism Commission  announced 48 new tourism locations as members of the “Signature Experiences Collection”  of remarkable experiences available from coast-to-coast throughout Canada.

A partnership between Huff Estates Winery and From the Farm Cooking School has been recognized as the first County experience to be included in the exclusive collection.

The “experience” includes visiting local farms/food producers, a private cooking class at a authentic heritage Canadian farmhouse, tasting wines at a number of the local wineries, enjoying art on site at Oeno Gallery and overnight accommodations at the Inn at Huff Estates.

“Being recognized as a Signature Experience for our region is extremely rewarding for our tourism industry overall and a recognition we which look forward to promoting nationally and internationally,” said Jason Sharpe, general manager at Huff Estates with Cynthia Peters, owner, From the Farm Cooking School.

“Signature Experiences Collection members include the best attractions that Canada has to offer and help show the world why our country is such an authentic and engaging place to visit,” said Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism). “This initiative is a key part of Canada’s Federal Tourism Strategy, which is based on a collaborative approach between industry and other levels of government secure Canada’s Competitive position in the global tourism market.”

“Tourism businesses are creating jobs and driving economic growth right here in our local communities”, said Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings. “Congratulations to Huff Estates and From the Farm Cooking School for being named as a new member of the Signature Experiences Collection.”

Huff Estates Winery was established in 2004 and was one of the County’s first wineries. Huff Estates has produced a number of national award-winning wines and was named “Top Twenty Wineries in Canada” by WineAccess Magazine in 2008. The winery offers tastings, tours and light lunches. The Inn at Huff Estates is located adjacent to the winery and is nestled amongst the vines. The inn features 21 suites all featuring their own private pergola patios.

From the Farm Cooking School offers recreational “field to table” cooking classes set in a 1830s farm house.
