The Prince Edward County Quilters’ Guild stitched together more love and support for the County’s hospital with a $500 gift to the PECM Hospital Foundation on Friday.
After Bill Fairbairn’s wife Barbara passed away in April, he donated the contents of her sewing room to the Quilters’ Guild. The guild held a yard sale in October then voted to donate proceeds to the Foundation’s current Picture of Health campaign for medical equipment. Barbara was a long-time member of the PECMH Auxiliary.
“Barbara was a hard-working, energetic, long-standing guild member who worked many volunteer positions within our community. We all miss her terribly,” said Janet Reader Day, president of the PEC Quilters’ Guild.
This donation brings the Quilters’ Guild cumulative giving total to $4,650. The group is $350 away from earning ‘Sponsor’ recognition status on the hospital’s donor wall.
The Quilters’ Guild has about 80 members including 4-H and life members. The next quilt show, A Stitch In Time’ 2018 is set for Sat July 7 and Sun July 8 at the Community Centre in Wellington.
