Donations help care for LHS cats at Christmas

CHEERS! to Andie Wiens, and her trusty sidekick Nakita, who raised $300 for the Loyalist Humane Society at last week’s Wellings Christmas Bazaar through sales of Andie’s baked goods.
Nakita invited County residents to visit the shelter, and perhaps adopt a cat, give them one a loving home, or make a donation to help her furry friends.
This local shelter is staffed entirely by volunteers and receives no municipal or provincial government funding.
The average monthly operational costs are $12,000. Half of these expenses go toward vet bills. Consider helping those who cannot help themselves this Christmas.
NON-FINANCIAL DONATIONS
Non-financial donations can include: cat food (preferred Whiskas Dry Meaty Selections and/or Friskies wet food – but accepting all types), cleaning supplies such as garbage bags (large and small), paper towels, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, bleach, all purpose cleaners (Pine Sol and Fantastik preferred), sponges, and grocery bags.
LHS also appreciates your Beer Store & LCBO returns (we’ll return them!) and Canadian Tire money.
And of course, they always appreciate cat toys, cat trees, beds and blankets to keep the cats happy, comfy and entertained.
Please call ahead if you plan to give a non-financial donation to see what needs the LHS currently has. Loyalist Humane is located at 1297 County Road 4 Picton. Call 613-476-4951.
