The County Up Market is set to open for its first season Saturday, May 19th in the parking lot of the former Chamber of Commerce in Picton, by the cenotaph.
The market is a rain or shine event that will continue through Thanksgiving weekend offering consumers locally produced and cooked foods and handmade crafts.
“We have had a tremendous response from interested local vendors to be full-season vendors. We are proud to feature many new businesses who have not participated in local markets previously,” said Sonya Szabo, County Up Market’s creator. “It will be a nice selection of vendors at the market every week. Customers can expect to eat, shop and stock-up on all high-quality local fare.”
The County Up Market is run by the team from The Vic Café in Picton, owned and operated by Sonya and Rick Szabo.
Shoppers can expect food stands, crafters, and a few farmers or producers. Because space is limited there is an application process to become a vendor to ensure vendors will be selling high-quality products.
Szabo notes the market plans to reflect the talent and energy of the County’s many entrepreneurs and artisans.
“Direct marketing of unique handmade products through markets continues to be an important outlet for new small businesses looking for exposure and to build relationships in the community.”
New vendors are welcome to participate in the market. They can choose to be an occasional vendor or a full-season vendor. Visit https://countyupmarket.wordpress.com/ to find out more information and to fill out the online application.
