Drama students take on Pied Piper in free performances

The 15 young participants, and staff members of the Marysburgh Mummers’ 2011 Drama Workshop, are looking for an audience to follow their version of a story based very loosely on Robert Browning’s poem, ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’.
“Six scenes will bring to the stage the results of the cast members’ imaginations as they forged a somewhat different storyline from the original poem,” said Al Hazell, instructor. “Imagine what may happen when a modern up-to-date family comes across a small village that has been out of touch with the modern world ever since its inception well over one hundred years ago.”
The presentation is partly scripted and partly improvised under the guidance of Hazell, Chris Zimmerman, Maria Hughes, and Aaron Davilla.
Two presentations will be held for parents, friends, and all others interested, at Mount Tabor Community Playhouse Friday, Aug. 26 at 10:30am and a repeat at 7:30pm. They are free of charge.
