Dredging bonus is sand for Wellington beach

The channel dredger pumps sand from the channel leading into the Wellington Harbour. The bonus is the sand is pumped onto Wellington beach. The dredger comes from Cobourg where that city purchased it for the same reason. -John Ferguson photo

Glad to see this was dredged, as I launched as usual in the fall, only to find out that a lot of sand had shifted into the mouth, making the water depth approx. 22 – 24″.
I used this boat launch all summer, and had no issues with water depth up until late August. The average depth of the channel during July was 34″ – 40″ in the centre of the channel. Heavy weeds at the rear of the public boat launch if you weren’t paying attention, but still very manageable.
I chase salmon and trout from this launching off point, and since I trailer my boat from Belleville, this is very convienient for me.
Thank-you PEC (Wellington) for looking after this!
What is the new dredged depth of the channel now???
