Dump sites will be open Wednesdays to alleviate traffic and wait times

Ameliasburgh and Milford landfill sites will remain open on Wednesdays through May and June to help alleviate traffic and wait times at Picton’s site.

In addition to operating Saturdays, the Picton, Ameliasburgh, and Milford sites will be open on Wednesdays from 8 am until 4 pm. All of the municipality’s landfill and transfer sites are open on Saturdays.

The municipality asks residents to restrict non-essential trips they are taking during the COVID-19 pandemic and asks that they hold onto yard waste, brush, leaves, and other waste if possible until after emergency measures are lifted.

Longer line-ups and wait times at all landfill and transfer sites are expected as the municipality enforces physical distancing measures. The municipality is limiting the number of people allowed into the sites at one time. Residents should have waste and recycling separated and recycling properly sorted before arriving at a site.

People visiting the Milford site (1132 Old Milford Road), are asked to avoid stopping on the curve between McKinley Crossroad and Jackson Falls Road when waiting to enter the site.

Residents are urged to use curbside waste pick-up for garbage, compost, and recyclables. The municipality is also allowing residents to put out one untagged bag of garbage per week until June 1, 2020.
