Easter Bunny makes rare appearance at Junior Farmers’ Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny, in a special agreement with the Prince Edward County Junior Farmers club, held a test-run at the Williams Farm in Bloomfield Saturday morning.
More than 60 children participating in the second annual Easter Egg Hunt were thrilled to meet the normally unseen benefactor of chocolate and goodies. Some were shy to greet the giant bunny, while others eagerly showed their appreciation with big smiles and warm hugs.
They met inside the barn to make Easter crafts with Junior Farmers club members, then ran outside to scour the farm for hundreds of tin-foil wrapped chocolate eggs. Satisfied with chocolate in their baskets, many of the children then met the Williams’ cows.
“Junior Farmers is kind of a continuation of 4-H”, Prince Edward club special events co-ordinator Justin Williams said. “It’s the only Ontario youth organization run entirely by youth between the ages of 15-29. We do have a lot of fun.”

Junior Farmers of Ontario has more than 600 members in 27 clubs across the province. Williams also serves as a provincial director. Members focus on developing leadership skills and contributing to their communities by holding social events to promote agriculture and an awareness of rural life. They also have the opportunity to participate in international and provincial exchanges, as well as provincial sport, cultural, and skills competitions and leadership camps.

JFAO works with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, 4‐H Ontario, Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and its own alumni to further increase the opportunities for youth.

NOTE: The Annual Picton Firefighter’s Easter Egg Hunt is set for Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. at Benson Park.  Age groups 1-4 and 5-9. Rain date April 8. Cost $3.
