Electric vehicle chargers in Wellington out of commission

UPDATE:  The OPP has confirmed that a vehicle caused damage to the EV chargers in Wellington. The incident was deemed an accident and there was no foul play involved. Staff are working on repairing the chargers to get them back in service as soon as possible.

The municipality reports the electric vehicle (EV) chargers at the Wellington and District Community Centre parking lot are out of operation due to vandalism that occurred over the weekend.

The EV chargers located at 257 Bloomfield Main Street and 375 Picton Main Street remain available for use while the Wellington chargers are out of service.

The municipality is asking any residents who may have witnessed this vandalism or may have any information that will help identify the vandals to call the O.P.P. non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
