Emergency overnight accommodation available in the County

Emergency accommodations are available when Environment Canada forecasts a temperature of -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20° C or colder, for Prince Edward County. The accommodations are offered by the local Salvation Army. People who need a place to stay overnight are to leave a message with the local Salvation Army office at 613.476.3159.

The municipality’s emergency control group developed the extreme cold weather procedure based on community need and practices in similar-sized municipalities. The program is supported financially by the Prince Edward-Lennox and Addington Social Services.

If community members need a place to get warm during the day, they can pop into a local branch of the Prince Edward County Public Library. Visit the Library website for branch hours of operation. The Library is operating at 50 per cent capacity as per provincial COVID-19 regulations. Visitors to the library must follow all COVID-19 protocols including wearing a mask and passing the COVID-19 screening.
