Expect traffic disruptions on County Road 49 Oct. 10-13

Expect lane restrictions and traffic delays on County Road 49 next week as a study begins condition assessment and rehabilitation options that are to pave the way toward eventual improvements.

A geotechnical investigation is to take place from Oct. 10-13. The traffic disruptions and delays are expected from 7 am to 7 pm. Construction begins at the south end of County Road 49 and progress to the north end.

Prince Edward County council, in July, approved the $77,625 assessment contract be awarded to Associated Engineer of Ontario to help the road’s rehabilitation move forward.

The report, said Robert McAuley, Commissioner of Engineering, Development and Works, will be an action plan on how to spend money over the years to fix the road.

The Ministry of Transportation recommended the County prepare a technical assessment to support any future provincial and federal funding applications.
