Fastest growing activity for mobile users is search

As searching the internet for information soars with popularity, the Picton BIA has launched a new mobile website – customized for quick access by mobile devices – to complement its regular website.
“Visitors will now be able to download resourceful information on Picton on their mobile device to plan trips to Picton, access business directory information, find street maps of downtown or simply learn of the history of the community,” said Lyndsay Richmond, director of member services with the Picton BIA.
“Through training sessions with InfoLink Web Site Development, the Picton BIA has learned that one of the fastest growing activities people are doing on the mobile web today is search,” said Richmond.
“They are looking for you and it will be important to be there with a great mobile site experience for your mobile viewers,” said Anne VanVlack, of InfoLink, on Elizabeth Street in Picton.
“In an increasingly technological world, the BIA is moving forward with the times and keeping up with the mobile devices that are becoming the primarily device for accessing information from around the globe,” said Richmond.
“The Picton BIA is excited to launch http://experiencepicton.mobi as a means to offer our mobile viewers their very own Picton experience. The excellence of this new site is attributed to VanVlack and her creative team at InfoLink. In 2010, the Picton BIA, in partnership with InfoLink and countylive.ca, launched a new look and feel for the Picton BIA website www.experiencepicton.com. The new mobile site has that same look and feel as the Picton BIA continues to work toward branding the association.”
Similar to the website, the mobi site has been customized with Carl Wiens artwork from the original Main Street flags designed for downtown Picton. This artwork, which continues to appear on the flags, has also been carried forward as part of the Picton BIA brand. Photographs on the website are by County photographer Phil Norton and are also featured in the 2012 Picton Guide To Shops and Services.
