Having pride and fondness for one’s home area is a passion shared by long-time journalist Jack Evans and his daughter, Cyndi Crowder and one they have detailed in a new book called “Growing Up Quinte.”
The regional title is particularly appropriate for this book as the daughter was born in Belleville, and raised in Prince Edward County and Trenton, while the father was also born in Belleville and lived in various parts of Prince Edward County, Trenton and finally his home town again.
“The book is essentially a collection of family stories, well-known characters, places and events that will draw quick associations with many readers,” notes Jack. “Typical is Belleville master pianist Jimmy Corradi and Salmon Point columnist, the late Harry Evans. The book also praises local cuisine and customs and monitors the many changes the area has experienced over the past 70 years.
Growing Up Quinte, A Father and Daughter Memoir. 60 pages and includes a generous number of photographs. $15. Now available at area book stores.
