Ferry service delayed for third time

Glenora-FerryThe Ministry of Transportation has struck out with Glenora Ferry users this summer as Prince Edward County Mayor Robert Quaiff just received a third notification of no return to 15-minute two-boat service.

Glenora Ferry service will continue to run one boat short for an unknown amount of time. The ministry said the lack of service is due to delays with the completion of the wheelhouse on the Wolfe Islander III ferry which was expected to return Sept. 7.

Until the Wolfe Islander III returns to service, the Frontenac II will continue to provide service from Kingston to Dawson Point. The bus shuttle from Dawson Point to Marysville will also continue. The Quinte Loyalist will remain in service at Amherst Island. The 30-minute single vessel service will continue at MTO’s Glenora location.

Probably would have been cheaper and quicker to just start building a new ferry last year. This is the ultimate in bureaucratic bungling by our provincial government employees. Over paid and under worked is their motto and they are proud of it.
