Fewer November home sales; still strong year-to-date

The month of November 2017 continued the trend of the past few months, with dollar sales below 2016 numbers – but strong sales in the first half of the year keep the year-to-date figures up by 17.5 per cent overall.
Cathy Polan, president of the Quinte & District Association of Realtors said dollar sales for all property types for November came in at $67,065,490 – down 10.5 per cent from 2016, which was $74,905,357.
Year-to-date dollar sales for residential properties also shows the strength of the first half of 2017, with an 18.2 per cent increase over 2016 numbers. The average residential sale price for November 2017 was $294,815 up from $270,864 a year ago, reflecting an 8.8 per cent increase. The year-to-date average residential sale price continues to reflect a healthy local market, showing a 15.6 per cent increase over 2016.
Residential sales in units came in with 198 units sold in November, down from 246 units in 2016. Active residential listings continue to be below 2016, currently with 571 active listings compared with 743 listings a year ago.
